I love do it also. But I have extra hose which connected to fresh air outside bag. Hose has valve. By opening/closing it I can find amount of fresh air which just barely allows me to breath.
Most air is re-breathed, so air is stale and I have to breath very hard (almost like him).
In my system I can stay for hours.
