No need to be embarassed. I felt the same way when I joined my first group and was told that it was automatic. You'll get your chance to be the smart ass someday. ;-)

I think the display pic is defaulted to whoever is the newest member of the group. Both you and our newest, Peachy_Sweet are excellent choices, for however it is done.
