By far the easiest way, assuming your file is under 150MB:
Go to
http://media-convert.com/
and let it do all the work!
Click on the "browse" button at the top, find your file on your computer, let the austomated system determine what it is.
From the Output Formnat dropdown list, choose "Windows DivX"
Of all the other options, change only "Resize To [96x96 > 948x576]" and type in 360 in the first box and 270 in the second.
On the right is a barely visible blue button saying "OK" next to "I accept the terms". click on the blue button, wait a few moments, and you'll be given a new file to download.
Easy!

Im not an expert. but sometimes a file can be opened by other programs on your computer. I have windows, quicktime, and realplayer. I have each one try to open it. it might still be in the wrong format but you can work with it.
could send them to your email and download a video converter
or buy a usb cord and transfer from your phone to comp but still would have to get a vid converter
