By the way. If you"re an American, and you"re younger than 51 years old, I"d like to ask you to consider something, regarding whatever American history classes you might have taken, in your lifetime. I"m not aware of anyone who goes around calling Moses a murdering cattle-rustler, although the Bible does say that he did kill that Egyptian; and that he did set off, across the desert, with a herd of Pharaoh"s human "live-stock". When your American history teacher tells you that our Founding Fathers were smugglers, slave-owners, and all kinds of other, unsavory things, will you please pause to consider that, in some people"s minds, "by their fruits, ye shall know them" is a good means of evaluating the impact of others" lives upon the world around us.

Is it possible that the USA is not (totally and completely, anyhow) the most bitter, rotten fruit of man"s mind and imagination, ever to have ruined an apple-barrel? I"m not saying that we have to look around, for examples of others that might be worse than we are; I am, however, suggesting that there might be something good, about the USA, that we didn"t swipe from somebody else. (Yeah, that means "something other than the territory outside Alaska.)

I"m suggesting that, maybe, the USA is actually worth-while; and that it"s good, that the USA came into being and has been among the world"s wealthiest and most-powerful nations for a long time. Because, although we"ve made mistakes, as all other countries have, with regard to the things we"ve done and failed to do, we certainly had the means to do a lot worse, had we wished to intentionally wreak havoc, rather than conduct ourselves as civilized persons ought, in the world.
