Last week I went into hospital for an open radical prostatectomy.
I am home now and on the mend and looking forward to a healthy future. I saw my surgeon on Monday and he had the pathology results, which showed there were 3 separate cancers in my prostate. He said he was confident that they were still contained (localised) and that I may not need radio therapy, I need to wait for a few months to have some new blood tests and see what happens then.
I will have the catheter taken out on 29th August, I must admit it's not much fun at all with this catheter in place, but I would rather put up with a little discomfort than having prostate cancer and the certain doom related with that.
Luckily, I only have a 3 inch long scar below my belly button and very saw belly muscles at the moment.
Here's looking to a bright future!!!
