FBI Virus

[2012-10-19 05:42:30 pm]

Hey everyone,

We have had some reports about an FBI visrus being installed on peoples computers, we checked and its not coming from us but seems to be pre existing on members computers prior to visits. The FBI virus basically gets activated by high traffic tube sites and torrent sites and then displays a fake FBI message asking users to pay a find or they will get sued.

You can google

FBI MoneyPak Virus – Removal Instructions

and it seems there are alot of way to remove this, and even if you don't have the symtoms you should probably get a mal-ware removal program like

malwarebytes - http://www.malwarebytes.org/

In order to make sure you clean your system.

I'd just like to a few more pieces of outstanding freeware that I can't recommend highly enough:
Spybot - Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org)
CCleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner)
Panda Cloud AV (http://www.cloudantivirus.com/en/forHome/)

Spybot S&D can be set up to run daily (say, 3 AM) and removes bots and malware from your system.

CCleaner removes vast amounts of system junk like temp files and cache loads from your hard drive, and also contains a toolbox for cleaning the PC registry and removing software.

I've been using Panda Cloud AV for about a year and had zero problems with viruses or other nasties.

All are highly reviewed by CNET and others and all available for free, though they ask for donations.

Hey guys, posted this on Yahoo Answers, got rated the best answer:
I'm assuming all of your account on your computer are infected. Luckily, new accounts are not.
Log into your administrator account. Even though you can't see it, hit the windows button and R to bring up the run menu in the background and type "cmd" to bring up your command prompt and type the following without quotes and ():
"net user USERNAME(make up one) /add"
then
"net localgroup Administrator USERNAME(same as before) /add"
This will create a new account that is free of the "ransom-ware" on normal login and in safe mode.
Restart your computer and open up in safe mode under the new user account, re-run malwarebytes (go into safemode with networking if you need to update malewarebytes)
This should recognize and remove it, Also, if you have spybot S&D and MSE (microsoft security essentials) I would recommend running them as well.

This worked for me and it took me days to figure out. Good luck.

I often visit here and other sites while running Windows, but this is one of the main reasons  Linux is my favorite OS.

I'd be looking at "Live Jasmin" - the popup that launches randomly when you click on it. Perhaps it is the source of the infection?

I indeed was hit by the FBI virus while being signed into xtube.   I somehow doubt that the virus was pre-existing because my computer was just 4 days old when I received this vicious virus.   It also turns on the computer camera as if to scare you that the FBI is watching every move!    Using the 'Safe' mode, then virus scan eliminated the virus, but it's scary!   Thanks for the notice.

a suggestion - run rkill.exe first and then shutdown to safemode and run malwarebytes, especially useful if computer refuses to shut down, computer virus scanner will ID rkill as a virus, ignore the warning, change rkill.exe filename to random letters and numbers, some viruses recognize it and block it's actions to save themselves

All I can say is that I had just gone to your site, clicked to open one of the vids, adn instantly I had the virus.   I think your site may have more to do with this than you admit or recognize.
